The 14th National Architecture Symposium (NAS): Weaving Visions is set to gather over 600 attendees at the Marquis Events Place, Bonifacio Global City, on May 2, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Organized by the Architecture Network (Archinet) of the University of Santo Tomas, the event continues its legacy as one of the Philippines’ premier platforms for dialogue and innovation in the architectural field.

Now in its fourteenth year, NAS brings together another distinguished roster of speakers, featuring both internationally renowned and homegrown talents. This edition’s theme, “Weaving Visions,” will discuss architecture as a catalyst for change through impact and innovation.

Ken Yeang
Principal, TR Hamzah Yeang Sdn. Bhd. (Malaysia)

Ken Yeang is a leader in ecological architecture, known for pioneering bioclimatic skyscrapers. He holds a PhD in ecological design from Cambridge University and has authored over a dozen books on sustainable architecture. His key projects, such as Menara Mesiniaga and the National Library of Singapore, incorporate natural systems into high-rise designs. The Guardian named him one of “50 people who could save the planet.”

Gelo Mañosa
Architect & CEO, Mañosa & Co.

Gelo Mañosa leads Mañosa & Co., carrying on the work of his father, National Artist Francisco “Bobby” Mañosa. His designs focus on local materials, vernacular traditions, and climate-responsive approaches. Notable projects include Likha Residences, the Bridgetowne Bridge, and the Davao Pearl Farm Resort extension. His practice blends modern design with cultural relevance and sustainability.

Jia Xin Chum
Architect, Henning Larsen (Singapore)

Jia Xin Chum is an architect at Henning Larsen’s Singapore studio, working on large-scale urban and environmental projects across Southeast Asia. A graduate of Princeton University, her work includes the North-South Corridor Surface Streets, the National Orchid Garden, and Mandai Eco Resort. She focuses on tropical urbanism, social resilience, and ecological performance.

Gepo de Mesa
Architect & EDGE Green Building Expert, Palafox Associates

Gepo de Mesa is an architect at Palafox Associates, a leading firm in urban planning and architecture. His projects range from master-planned communities to disaster-resilient urban districts. He works closely with local governments and communities to ensure sustainable, well-integrated urban development.

Daniel Yu
Architect & CEO, Visionarch

Daniel Yu is the CEO of Visionarch, one of the Philippines’ largest architecture firms. He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas and holds a master’s degree in Architectural Management and Design from IE School of Architecture and Design in Madrid. He led the design for One Ayala, a major transport-oriented development in Makati, which was shortlisted at the 2017 World Architecture Festival.

Ronnie Yumang
Architect & Environmental Planner, Yumang Design Studio

Ronnie Yumang takes pride in being among the few practicing regenerative architects in the Philippines. He is also a licensed environmental planner and specializes in regenerative architecture. His projects, such as Balika Rammed Earth Construction, aim to restore and replenish ecosystems. Ongoing works include Maka Forest Villa, Ecotone Palisade Forest Homes, and Rahuyo Fractal Residences.

NAS has a strong tradition of hosting prominent figures in the industry, having previously featured architects such as Kengo Kuma, Takaharu Tezuka, Francine Houben, and Riken Yamamoto. This year’s event keeps the tradition alive, offering attendees the opportunity to engage with leading voices shaping the built environment. Organized annually by Archinet, a non-profit student organization under UST’s College of Architecture, the symposium aims to introduce students and professionals to diverse architectural perspectives through talks, discussions, and networking opportunities. •
