About the prize
Since 2017, GROHE has been lending its support to ground-breaking research and innovative schemes tackling water challenges at the World Architecture Festival. The GROHE Water Prize celebrates pioneering projects at the nexus of design and water conservation and supports projects that explore the impact of water on architecture.
Entry is FREE for architects, designers, universities, or other research institutions. Entering other WAF categories is not required, and the winning project will receive £10,000 in funding for its further development. The chosen scheme will then be presented by its proponents live at WAF 2025 in Miami, where they will receive a trophy at the Gala Dinner.

WAF says that the proposal should:
- Identify a new challenge or opportunity, unresearched or under-researched, related to design and water
- Advance an understanding of water in relation to the built environment, for example in relation to storage, management, distribution, use, recycling, and the like
- Explain how the research is addressing the issue(s) identified
- Outline the potential outcome of the research
- Say how the research award would contribute to the outcome

Dates to remember:
- February 2025 – Entries open
- June 20, 2025– Entry deadline
- July 2025 – Shortlist reveal
- November 12 to 14, 2025 – Finalist presentations at Festival Hall Stage, WAF 2025
