Music has long held mankind in its spell, with a capacity to elicit a wide spectrum of emotions and moods and possessing a quality that helps foster expression and connection. It is this inspiring energy that music brings that Melbourne-born skincare brand Aesop drew from for its 2023-2024 collection of gift kits. Christened ‘Resonant Gestures,’ the kits are all named after the qualities that make music so powerful: harmony, rhythm, texture, form, and melody. Each gift kit comes in recycled paper boxes that ripple with soundscape patterns set against subdued hues of green and brown.
Each kit is also a music box; Aesop has created a series of sonic experiments called Radiomatique, including playlists, mixtapes, and a storytelling podcast called Future Fables. To further amplify the concept, Paris-based musician Kiala Ogawa has been commissioned to compose a series of tunes that pay tribute to the five qualities of music, each gift kit possessing its own distinctive tune. The tracks are now available at aesop.com/soundscapes.
