NEO, the leading sustainable real estate developer in the Philippines, unveiled its first-ever sustainability report last June 13, 2022, at Manila House, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. The document is a testament and public record of the company’s commitment to driving positive change and adhering to global sustainability standards.
Raymond Rufino, CEO of NEO, expressed his enthusiasm for being at the forefront of sustainable real estate development. “Our sustainability report reflects our dedication to creating a positive impact,” Rufino stated. “We firmly believe in openly discussing our commitments, actions, and overall performance, including our buildings. Transparency is key.”
NEO’s real estate portfolio has achieved a monumental feat, becoming the world’s first to receive the prestigious International Finance Corporation’s EDGE Zero Carbon certification. This certification, verified by EDGE partner SGS-Sintali, surpasses NEO’s original target of achieving net-zero status by 2025. Retrofit plans are already in progress to further improve energy efficiency throughout the portfolio.
A critical factor in NEO’s success lies in its collaboration with AboitizPower. Through this enduring partnership, NEO’s entire portfolio is powered by Cleanergy, delivering 100% renewable energy. Since 2013, AboitizPower subsidiary AP Renewables, Inc. has been supplying geothermal energy to all seven NEO buildings in BGC, showcasing their commitment to sustainability.
Gie Garcia, Managing Director of Property Management at NEO, urges industry peers to follow suit in their pursuit of net-zero commitments. “Achieving net zero is within reach for all of us,” Garcia emphasizes. “With deep management commitment and strategic policies, we can make a significant impact. Our success is a beacon of hope and inspiration for others in the industry.”
The NEO Sustainability Report launch showcases the organization’s remarkable journey, highlighting milestones in green building development, safety, carbon reduction, and resilience. NEO’s dedication to the health, safety, and well-being of stakeholders has been recognized with the WELL Health-Safety Rating. Notably, NEO has also achieved substantial reductions in energy and water consumption, even for buildings older than two decades.
NEO’s Sustainability Report sets a new standard for sustainable real estate development, reinforcing their pioneering efforts in the industry. With a strong focus on fairness, inclusivity, and environmental stewardship, NEO is leading the way toward a sustainable future for real estate in the Philippines. •
