Oro Design Conference kicks off 2021 with an online, free access event featuring speakers across the creative spectrum

Adapting to the challenges presented by the new normal, the Northern Mindanao-based Oro Design Collective brings back the wildly-successful Oro Design Conference for a third edition on February 20 (1:00PM – 6:30PM), now hosted digitally and completely free for all. Presented through a Zoom web conference, ODC 2021 will also be broadcasted on Facebook and YouTube for ease of access.

The first of its kind when staged last 2019, ODC has since been preaching the gospel of good design and creativity to Mindanaoans for the past three years, the last two editions fetching more than 200+ attendees each. With no intention of breaking the streak, and as a response to the tenuous conditions and challenges many of our creatives undoubtedly face with the current pandemic, the collective decided to move the conference online and sans paywall for creatives from NorMin and beyond.

Championing local talent, ODC 2021’s lineup of speakers will go beyond graphic design and also touch on topics concerning marketing, curation, and design initiatives. Mirroring this wide-ranging scope of themes and the breadth of design’s impact on society, the online edition is free and open to everyone. ODC 2021 Speakers

French Andico is the creative director of lifestyle brand REVERE from Davao City. He is a graphic designer and counts himself a member of the Order of the White Lotus. REVERE’s aesthetic takes after low-brow art, graphic design and the internet.
Jo Malinis is a graphic and type designer. She is also the creative behind Type63, an initiative that aims to showcase and celebrate Filipino type design, ranging from custom type for projects to fully-realized typefaces, and typographic layouts.
Happy Garaje is the creative duo Johanna Velasco Deutsch and Mark Deutsch. They are illustrators, toymakers, designers, and storytellers who run a tiny, Cebu-based design studio, Happy Garaje Design Studio Co.
Lester Cruz is the co-founder of Serious Studio, a secret brand consultancy cult in Manila. Serious Studio’s collective experience spans brand identity, design, business development, stand-up (or sit-down) comedy, and whatever big words you can put in here.
Soleil Ignacio is a Filipina illustrator working mostly within the fashion and beauty industry. Through the years she’s had the pleasure of working with amazing brands like Forever 21, TRESemmé, Seventeen Magazine, L’Oreal Paris, Sfera, La Mer, and Jo Malone London, amongst many others.

Oro Design Conference 2021 is organized by the Oro Design Collective, and is co-presented by Chingkeetea and soft.
