After nearly a decade in Europe, the highly anticipated World Architecture Festival (WAF) is making a return to the Lion City. From 29 November to 1 December 2023, the 16th edition of this global design event will take place at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre in the iconic Marina Bay Sands. WAF serves as a global platform for architects and design professionals to connect, exchange ideas, and shape the industry’s future.

For 2023, WAF collaborates with the Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau (SECB) under the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) as their destination partner. This partnership aims to deliver an exceptional experience for delegates from around the world, immersing them in the vibrant spirit of Singapore.

“We are delighted to return to Singapore, where our Festival took place from 2012 to 2015. Singapore continues to inspire international interest with its visionary urban planning and architectural marvels. We are confident that our delegates will be captivated by the location and its offerings, just as they have been by the World Architecture Festival,” said Paul Finch, WAF’s Program Director.

Poh Chi Chuan, STB’s Executive Director for Exhibitions & Conferences, shared his excitement about WAF’s return, remarking, “We are thrilled that the World Architecture Festival is coming back to Singapore this November. This reflects the industry’s confidence in Singapore as the preferred destination for business events and a gateway to the fast-growing Asia Pacific region. We eagerly anticipate the continued success of WAF in Singapore, where professionals from around the world gather to break new ground in architecture and design across industries.”

At the core of the festival is the world’s largest live-judged architectural awards program, dedicated to celebrating excellence through live presentations to esteemed delegates and international juries. Singapore has seen remarkable success in previous editions, with projects like Kampung Admiralty by WOHA Architects and Oasis Terraces by Serie + Multiply Architects emerging as winners.

The festival also features a thematic conference program, an exhibition showcasing the latest products and technologies, a gallery presenting all shortlisted projects, and a host of engaging fringe and networking events taking place throughout Singapore. Concurrently, the INSIDE World Festival of Interiors, a celebration of creativity and knowledge within the interiors industry, will run alongside the WAF.
