The third edition of Jia Curated Kiosks, an immersive design, craft, and culture weekend, is happening from August 15 to 18 at the Bali Festival Park, Sanur, Bali! Introduced by Bali-based home accessories brand Jia in 2022, the event gathers creative professionals from all over the world for a series of local and international exhibitions, design dialogues, and cultural activities.
For four consecutive days, the landscape, pathways, and weathered structures of Bali Festival Park will be reimagined as a creative hub. Jia says the park offers “a unique backdrop for creativity to flourish,” with its pronounced jungle ambiance framing the event, highlighting exhibited pieces, and creating juxtapositions.
Over 100 brands will be participating in this edition. Exhibitors will include the likes of S•CAB, MULTISTANDARD, Heveya, AlvinT, Ong Cen Kuang, and Viro. 360º Design Dialogue curated by Design Anthology also returns this year, featuring insights from speakers such as Andra Matin, Keiji Ashizawa, Dan Mitchell, Elora Hardy, and PC Ee.
Aside from the main event activities, participants of the event will also have access to music and cultural performances. A variety of food and beverage offerings will also be available throughout the celebration.
In Process
This year’s theme, “In Process”, celebrates both individual and collective creative journeys while embracing the Indonesian values of Gotong Royong, a concept that represents solidarity, communal cooperation, and mutual assistance within society.
“The processes of making, thought, and design share a common objective: to facilitate transition, representing a reaction to preceding actions,” Jia explains. The theme aims to highlight the diversity of individual reactions within these processes, influenced by education, backgrounds, and cultures. “This diversity serves as a catalyst for variety and innovation, shaping the dynamic landscape of design and craft,” the team adds.
Budiman Ong, co-founder of Jia Curated Kioks, also shares his sentiments: “In process, for me, is a journey of discovery. A discovery in life or design is the same. Like any journey, it is not the end; there will be a next chapter yet to be experienced. It is exciting, and I look forward to it.”
Collaborative effort
Gotong Royong translates to mutual cooperation or collaborative effort. Jia says that by utilizing this concept as a crucial element, the event becomes “a reflective mirror, showcasing the extension of the creative process beyond individual efforts.” The team shares that the weekend will pay homage to Indonesia’s cultural heritage, transforming into a platform that not only exhibits design and craftsmanship but also strengthens social bonds, emphasizes collaboration, and celebrates the collective strength arising from the creative journey.”
“We look forward to celebrating diverse creative processes, promoting community collaboration, and facilitating cross-cultural exchange at Jia Curated Kiosks 03,” Jia ends. “We hope to see you there!”
